How to upgrade your MAS 90 or MAS 200
Get current versions of Sage 100Cloud and bring your existing data along
If you are on a version 3.72 or MAS 90 or MAS 200 and wish to upgrade you can migrate all of your data to the current version. You will need to migrate to 4.0 and then to the most recent release. Please refer to the Sage Software Master Upgrade Project Plan before you begin and make a full backup of your system including data and Sage Software Installation. Once you get current on your software future upgrades will be very easy because of the new business framework that has replace the old architecture in previous versions.
We also recommend performing a test conversion, getting all necessary custom reports and forms in place and doing a final data conversion once you have all the kinks worked out which takes a bit of time and planning. You should test thru each transaction you actually use to make sure the initial conversion actually brought over everything you expected. This way when you are actually ready to cut over your business only has a small amount of down town and frustration.
Back in those days the upgrades were in-line with data conversions, not migrations, up till 4.0 I believe. If I were going to upgrade someone from a 2.x or 3.x version of MAS 90 I would bring them to 3.72 prior to data migration. Also, I would re-build every file and re-sort before migrating from 3.72. Before you start you need to print off all the reports showing balances and again once you are complete to make sure the balances and data conversion went well. However, you still need to review and test every thing especially if you are a larger user of this system.
At a minimum print the following:
- General ledger trial balance
- detailed Accounts Receivable aging report
- detailed Accounts payable aging report
- Inventory valuation
- Payroll YTD earnings
- Purchases clearing report
- Open jobs
Any report that will help you measure when you start the upgrade and then at the end of the upgrade so you can confirm that you have successfully brought over all your data.
You also need to plan for all system UDT and UDF’s that may need to be taken into consideration.
As well as custom forms and custom crystal reports these should be identified and set in place prior to the initial conversion and tested prior to the final or second conversion. This is not a process you can do in a few hours if you do not know what you are doing and there are many other steps you may also need to consider so you have the complete picture. Once you get to a more current version of Sage 100 or Sage 100C the upgrade process has been made much easier.
